Across the four primary years, the Turkish national (MEB) curriculum is taught within the IB's six transdisciplinary themes. Children begin with a question, investigate, and take what they learn beyond the classroom.
The PYP is not a list of subjects but a framework for how learning is built. Six units of inquiry are taught each year; each opens with a central idea and the children's own questions. A Grade 3 class exploring how water reaches the city under "How the world works" also learns MEB measurement outcomes by reading water meters.
Two languages, two teachers
There are two teachers in each class all day. Turkish lessons and Turkish literacy are led by the Turkish teacher; most of the units of inquiry run in English. Children new to English get four extra hours of language support a week in their first term.
The PYP Exhibition
In the last six weeks of Grade 4, students work in small groups on a real question of their choice with a mentor teacher and present their findings to families and younger classes.
