Grades 1–4. The MEB programme within the IB PYP framework, with a Turkish teacher and a native English-speaking teacher in every class. Part of the day is spent in the garden and workshops.

The primary day is short and balanced: Turkish literacy and maths in the morning, inquiry workshops in the afternoon. Every class has its own garden plot; under "Sharing the planet", children measure the beans they planted there.

For children starting Grade 1, the first two weeks of September are settling-in weeks: the day ends at 12:30 and parents may stay in the classroom on the first day.

By the end of this section

  • Progress in Turkish and English literacy at each child's own pace
  • The habit of asking, observing and explaining what they found
  • A first independent investigation in the PYP Exhibition
  • All MEB primary outcomes
