Pathway

Choose a grade and a goal; the line shows which programmes lie ahead up to Grade 12, which diploma your child will graduate with and what admission involves.

Which grade will your child start?
What is your goal?

At graduation

The IB Diploma (Turkish citizens also receive the MEB high school diploma)

Obligations of international students in the MEB programme are set by regulation; we give written details at the admissions meeting.

Admission steps for Grade 11

Two tracks, one school

The upper track is the international programmes: the IB PYP in primary, Cambridge Lower Secondary in middle school, Cambridge IGCSE in the first two years of high school and the IB Diploma Programme in the last two.

The lower track is the Turkish national curriculum (MEB), which Turkish students follow on every path. The international programmes are built on top of it, not instead of it.

Paths can change: in the second term of Grade 10, the student, family and university counsellor choose the Grade 11–12 path together. This tool is a guide; final placement is made at the admissions meeting.

Questions about programmes

All questions

In which grade does the IB Diploma Programme start?

The DP is a two-year programme that starts in Grade 11. It cannot be started in Grade 12; students joining in Grade 12 are placed on the MEB programme.

Can our child get both the IB and the Turkish diploma?

Yes. Turkish citizens follow the MEB programme on every path and receive the MEB diploma; those who take the IB Diploma Programme graduate with both. The double load is demanding; the decision is made together with the student, family and counsellor in the second term of Grade 10.

Can a student with weak English cope with the international programmes?

In primary there are two teachers per class and up to four extra hours of language support a week. In middle and high school an intensive English (EAL) group runs for a term depending on placement. B2 English or above is recommended to start the DP in Grade 11.
